I remember so clearly setting up Emma and Alan's wedding on 20th March 2020, as we all knew we were about to be locked down for Covid.
It was quite surreal chatting to Emma's florist, the lovely Victoria from Simply Stunning Flowers, about everything that was going on and we were both wondering just how major an impact everything was going to have on all of our bookings (little did we know the extent of everything to come).
That said, I'm so glad Emma and Alan got to celebrate their wedding fully and it was such a pleasure to make their cake for them. They had a mix of strawberries and champagne with white chocolate ganache and strawberry jam, tropical and coconut sponge with white chocolate ganache and passion fruit curd and Biscoff sponge layered with white chocolate ganache and yummy Biscoff paste. I arranged fresh flowers on the cake using special sealed posy picks to protect the cake from any contact with the sap from the stems.
Huge congratulations to Emma and Alan.

Heading back to Apton Hall for my first wedding there in 2020 was as lovely as always. After weeks of rain the sun started to come out and there was a hint of spring in the air at this beautiful rural setting.
Rachel and David's cake was a simple but elegant butter icing creation featuring textured icing and beautiful fresh flowers supplied by the lovely Karen from The Flower Mill. This 4", 6", 8" and 10" cake featured a delicious mix of flavours - Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Elderflower & Champagne and Chocolate Orange all layered with indulgent ganache.
Congratulations to this lovely couple and thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

I'd not had a chance to visit Layer Marney Tower before, so it was lovely to get the opportunity to see it for the first time on a beautiful summer's day. I wasn't disappointed, as I arrived at a peaceful Elizabethan courtyard beside the impressive tower, just as preparations were beginning for Chris and Shivon's special day.
Their cake was set up in the grand oak panelled reception room and featured a subtle marble effect with a wrap of hand made peach icing flowers. The flowers reflected Shivon's bridal flowers and ranged from a statement Dahlia and English garden roses to peony and foliage. The Dahlia consisted of numerous hand shaped, veined, wired and coloured petals and took well over 3 hours to make. A labour of love, but well worth it for the end result.

It's always a pleasure to visit Maidens Barn, one of my favourite venues in the heart of the Essex countryside and the morning of 29th June 2019 was no exception, as the sun was shining and the flowers were in full bloom around the beautifully kept courtyard.
Jess and Byron's wedding had a very rustic feel to it with table displays featuring delicate flowers and wood slice arrangements. Their cake followed a similar theme and it was a delight to create this stacked wood log effect cake. It was the first of this style I'd had the pleasure of creating and it was so much fun to see the bark come to life as I painted the colour onto the base icing colour. Each tier featured a special moment in Jess and Byron's journey, from their first meeting, their engagement and then their wedding day, all recorded as "bark engravings".
Each tier was a different flavour, with salted caramel, traditional sponge, red velvet and then a rich fruit with marzipan at the top. By all accounts all the flavours were a massive hit with their guests.

Leez Priory just exudes tranquility and never fails to feel very special whenever I set a wedding cake up there. Abbie and Richard's wedding on the May bank holiday weekend was no exception, with an air of calm anticipation all around the venue as I set up their 4 tier cake.
The cake reflected their soft pink rose gold themes with feature ruffles, rose gold tier and hand crafted sugar English rose and peony flowers. The cake was made from 10", 8", 6" and 4" rounds in the ever popular flavours of chocolate orange, strawberries and champagne and salted caramel.
Huge congratulations to this lovely couple and very best wishes for a wonderful future together.
