Beautiful rural countryside passed us as we drove to set up Jo and Phil's wedding cake in early September. We eventually arrived at a lovely traditional country village church and hall in the heart of Devon, which was to be the setting for this special day. Fingers were crossed for the weather as rain was threatened but apart from a slight drizzle first thing, the weather held for all the important events of the day.
With my daughter, who is now a fully fledged baker, alongside me helping, we set up Jo and Phil's wedding cake. Their "naked" style cake was adorned with fresh red berries, flowers, a pretty natural topper in wood, a generous sprinkling of icing sugar and a little surprise of some macarons (made by my daughter) which were an unexpected extra just for Phil.
Jo and Phil's original date in July had been cancelled very last minute due to Covid, but the wait meant that their day was all the more special! A beautiful day, heart-warming ceremony and joyous celebrations with family and friends made this the perfect day for this wonderful couple. Congratulations to you both and wishing you every happiness for the future.

Lee and Trevor's Twilight Wedding took place at The Lawn in Rochford and I have to say I felt extremely honoured to be asked to make this cake as I know how much it meant to them both.
I was asked to make Iris flowers for the cake as Lee's mum, who had sadly passed away, was called Iris. I handcrafted the flowers using sugarpaste in blue to match their wedding theme and set them on their 2 tier heart shaped wedding cake.
Their cake was a 6" heart light fruit sponge with layers of white chocolate ganache, apricot jam and marzipan and an 8" heart raspberries and white chocolate sponge layered with raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache.
Sending congratulations to Lee and Trevor on their very special and day.

Denise and Jonathan had been together for years, but finally decided to get married in 2022. They had a very small wedding ceremony near their home in Evesham, Worcestershire, but we couldn't miss out on celebrating with them so an afternoon tea was arranged by their Essex relatives.
Being the middle of August, the sun was still shining and a quiet rural garden in Hockley was the beautiful backdrop for their afternoon of celebrations. Scones were cooked, jams made, sandwiches prepared and loads of other sweet treats were baked by various family members, along with their surprise wedding cake.
We wanted to give the cake a country afternoon tea vibe, so the "naked" format with fresh flowers and a pretty wooden personalised topper, seemed the perfect choice. The flavours were light fruit with apricot jam and butter icing filling at the top, lemon with butter icing and lemon curd in the middle and traditional sponge with a butter icing and chocolate chip filling.
Well I think it is fair to say we all ate far more than we should have, but it was such a lovely afternoon, topped off with a serving of cake and then an evening BBQ - what more could you ask for of a late summer afternoon wedding celebration.
Huge congratulations to Denise and Jonathan and here's to many more happy years together (at long last as Mr & Mrs!!).

Kayleigh and Ian had originally planned their wedding for September 2020, but due to Covid restrictions they had to change their plans and held a very small gathering for their ceremony.
Come September 2021 it was lovely to finally see them celebrate their wedding properly with a reception gathering at The Lawn.
Their cake featured soft pink airbrushing across the middle tier and was decorated with hand-crafted icing roses, rose buds, gyp and eucalyptus in their wedding colours of deep burgundy and pink. Their flavours were Red Velvet layered with white chocolate ganache, traditional sponge layered with white chocolate ganache and raspberry jam and Biscoff sponge layered with white chocolate ganache and Biscoff Paste.
Congratulations to you both and enjoy a wonderful future together.

I'd not had the chance to go to That Amazing Place before, so it was lovely to have the opportunity to see this beautiful setting for Katie and Liam's wedding.
It had been a long wait for their special day as they'd been one of the many couples who had their wedding plans changed due to Covid, but the wait was worth it and they were married on 1st July 2021.
Their semi-naked cake featured sponges in Strawberries and Champagne layered with butter icing and strawberry jam, Morello Cherry & Chocolate layered with chocolate chip butter icing and Salted Caramel layered with salted caramel butter icing.
I decorated the cake with fresh flowers supplied by Karen at The Flower Mill and the cake was topped with a pretty customised wooden cake topper.
